Pain Management Nurse Practitioner

We have an opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to serve as pain management consultant throughout the CHOC care continuum. You will provide direct patient care in consultation with the anesthesiologist, who retains final medical responsibility. As Pain Management Nurse Practitioner, you will identify the needs of family, community and associates. Through consultation, education and leadership, you will implement strategies to meet those needs.

Must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and have at least 3 years of experience as a pediatric RN. You will also need an MSN, current CA RN license, Nurse Practitioner certification, current PALS and BLS, as well as Furnishing and DEA number. Critical analysis and problem solving skills are essential. You must be a team player and effective communicator with the ability to engage in conflict resolution.

Clinical  Administrative  Director,  Pain  Management  Center

Exciting new opportunity for experienced nursing leader to direct operations for the Pain Management Center at the world-renowned University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.  M.D. Anderson is an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Magnet Designated Hospital, and ranked as the #1 Hospital in the Nation for Cancer Care by U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” Survey.  M.D. Anderson includes an inpatient pavilion with over 500-beds, 5-research buildings, 3-outpatient clinic buildings, a faculty office building, a proton radiation clinic building, and a patient-family hotel.

The Pain Management Center Clinical Administrative Director will direct overall operations for the Outpatient Pain Center, now averaging 12,000 annual patient visits. Performs strategic planning, financial management, marketing, and administration of the outpatient and inpatient pain services for the institution, within a matrix management structure. The Pain Center provides: pain evaluation and treatment; medical management; psychological therapies; nerve blocks; vertebroplasty; kyphoplasty; and device implantation. Volumes have increased 20% in 2008 due to cancer survivorship. Reporting relationship to the Chair, Department of Pain Medicine.

 

This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing plus a Master's Degree in Nursing, Business,  or Health Care Administration, and 4-years of management experience. Competencies required include: business acumen; strategic thinking; influencing others; providing direction; inspiring trust; and self motivation.

Pain Management Registered Nurse

We are searching for a full-time Pain Management Registered Nurse to join our Pain Management team and provide excellent care to our patients as well as being a resource for our staff. The position is working Monday through Friday 8-hour day shifts with a phone triage call rotation (rarely a need to come in) during off hours. The qualified candidate will possess their RN license in Pennsylvania, or have the ability to obtain a PA license immediately, is required. ANCC Pain Management Certification is required or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior Oncology experience is a plus.

Anesthesia Research RN

An immediate opportunity is available at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) for a research nurse.  As a member of US News and World Report’s Honor Roll of Top Hospitals and a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, we continue to be a great place for nurses to practice and it’s only getting better.

This position will be responsible for the clinical assessment, quality, evaluation and management of patient data collected for research purposes.  You will assist in providing and maintaining a therapeutic environment for the chronic pain patient.  In addition, you will be involved in research studies that are primarily investigator-initiated clinical trials, funded by a variety of funding agencies (including NIH).

Additional duties may include: supervision of research staff, subject recruitment and identification, study enrollment, protocol visit coordination and conduct, record keeping, drug dispensing and accountability in conjunction with the Investigational Drug Service, collection and disposition of laboratory samples, and assisting the Program Coordinator with IRB protocol submissions.

The ideal candidate must have a BSN in Nursing.  A minimum of 2-4 years of prior experience as a nurse (telemetry or ICU experience is preferred).  Should have ANA or other appropriate nursing certification in area of practice and authorization by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in the expanded role.  ACLS certification required.
